Re:      Action plan for improving building projects ( Shanghai )
Leatty

Introduction
In order to show our dedication and the extent of significance the staff has on the company, we have devised new plans to enhance and upgrade the communications systems to toughen the ties and mutual drive within the organization. After deliberating we have come to certain conclusions and agreements regarding the plan of action to develop the communication system within the company. There were several problems that were discussed during the meeting including re-designs, supply shortages and deadlines not being met. We have established plans to remove these problems to improve production and the overall image of the company in the long run.

Digital mailing list
Effective communication is essential for the company and therefore a digital mailing list is very useful to broadcast and share company news amongst the staff. In addition, all the data gathered for the mailing list will be sent to the webmaster that will issue the list on a weekly basis. If all goes well, we would expect to see an improvement in the stream of ideas and recommendations between the various divisions and departments in the company.

Website forum
Today, thanks to the  usefulness of the social media, people are able to communicate through the internet instantly. Because of this, we recommend creating an interactive blog on the company website where the staff are able to interact with each other. We believe this is beneficial because it means that the staff can build a social relationship with each other and thus break the wall that hinders communication.

Web-conferencing
Finally, we intend to introduce a video-conferencing service in all our branches. State of the art computers will be installed in all rooms of the buildings to allow video-conferencing to take place. This technique will allow the managers of all departments to visually communicate with each other but also with the employees that are undertaking tasks abroad.  This method might require extensive investment, but we highly recommend it because communication problems in the past have resulted in shortages of supply simple because of misinterpreted information.  As a result, we hope that the staff will be able to communicate quicker and so deadlines are met and delays are eliminated.

Conclusion and recommendations
To sum up, it is clear to see that applying these ideas will without a doubt require expensive investment but it will nonetheless be very beneficial for the company in the long run. It is also vital to keep in mind that the recommendations will require further adjustments to suit the company perfectly and to reduce costs as much as possible. Further research has driven us to the conclusion that not only communication will improve but we expect to see a mass improvement in profit due to the enhanced communication. In addition, these recommendations will help the company become more internationally orientated and this is exactly what is required from our global customers.

Reflection on the Hazel presentation

What an interesting day today was. To begin with, my day started of by waking up at 5am because of the sleepless night I had the day before. I decided to go early to school to start preparing for the Hazel presentation to make sure that everything runs smoothly. Ten minutes prior to the presentation, I felt that my nerves were starting to emerge and I could feel the butterflies in my stomach already. Overall, I felt that the presentation went as planned however, as always, there is always room for improvement. The biggest problem I had was that I misunderstood a question that was presented by the teacher. The question was how relevant the quote was for the presentation and she was referring to the image of the monkey and a little quote we had at the end. What happened was that I thought the question was based on the quote we had on a previous side which mentioned age & beauty. My partner for the presentation was Fynne and we divided the work of the power point between us. She was personally responsible for that picture and therefore it would have been a better  if she answered the question, because I personally did not see the relevance of it. Now that I think about, I believe that I should have made sure that I understood the question before I attempted to answer it. It came to no surprise that the reaction from the teacher was puzzled and slightly confused.  All in all,  I believe that Fynne and I worked together well and I am happy to have her as a partner because we think alike in many ways and we get the work done when needed.
As the day progressed I read through all the feedback I received from my peers and I was satisfied with the results. Many had written that I spoke clear although I could have thought about possible questions before-hand and therefore structured my answers more clearly. In addition, I think I actually did better than I expected because as my previous post mentioned, I read from sheets during presentations and this time I only took a few glimpse at my paper and improvised the rest. Now, it only comes back to the actual results of the presentation which I will be receiving from the teacher shortly. In the next post, I will post pictures of the presentation for the readers of this blog to get a better picture of the work that was done.

reflection on the treasury trove presentation

A while back, the class had to present a treasury trove presentation and the topic that I made was based on the article called "how to handle a disruptive person that asks a lot of clarifying questions" by Anne Warfield. Overall, I did receive good feedback and it helped me figure out my weaknesses during presentations. For one, although I might seem socially confident, I am actually terrified of presenting. I have always had stage fright as far as I can remember. This coming Monday I have another presentation to make and I hope things go as planned.

A day in Sudan

I find this video very interesting because it shows a western man who makes a video based on his life in Sudan. You would expect to find him complaining and portraying Sudan in a negative image, but in fact he does the opposite. I thought it video would relate perfectly to the previous post I made about Sudan.

Sleepless in Sudan

This entry will be entirely devoted to Sudan, my place of birth and the country that seems to be very misunderstood and misjudged. I have decided to write this particular post because I feel that the truth behind Sudan is often neglected and it gives me the impression that it is of little importance to the majority people. I also think that this post is relevant because Sudan played a big role for my development regarding the English language.
The media seems to portray Sudan in a somewhat ‘hell on earth’. Yes, Sudan certainly has political issues ranging from the civil war between the southerners and northern African-Arabs and the day-to-day accusations and imprisonments of innocent civilians that voice their opinions. Most recently the split of Southern Sudan from the North has been highlighted by the news and surprisingly it has generated great interest globally.  Personally, I have always believed that the southerners deserved a land of their own because even at a young age I could see that just because they are black, they are immediately labeled as ‘scums’ or even ‘criminals’. Growing up, I was always told not discriminate but in Sudan, racism can be seen on a daily basis. It is quiet pathetic and sad at the same time to think that Sudanese people discriminate each other! One day, I hope to see a big change in how people treat each other, not just in Sudan but perhaps all over this planet.
When asked where I am from, I receive many “wow really” and “are you sure you are not mixed” reactions from people. This is due to the fact that quiet often people portray Sudanese people as very dark. My cousin is actually even lighter than I am and she has had people asking her if she is Russian. I can guarantee you that I am 100% percent pure Sudanese although if I were to trace back my origin a hundred years ago, I can tell you that I am I am off Turkish and Egyptian heritage. My great grandparents, according to my parents migrated to north Sudan hundreds of years ago to explore oil and gold in northern region. Not many people are aware of the fact that Sudan has its own pyramids. Although they are not as big and historical looking as the ones in Egypt, they are nonetheless pyramids and carry mind-blowing rocks full of ancient myths and religious stories behind them. I have always wondered why Sudan does not attract as many tourists as Egypt. I have come to the conclusion that we should blame the media. The media has always given Sudan this malicious image of barbaric soldiers committing atrocious crimes and factually talking this is true to a very small extent. I am neither a Politian nor a historian but what I can clarify from my own personal experience from living in Sudan is that if Holland is rated a 10 for safety, I would rate Sudan a solid 6.
I will end this blog with pictures that remind me of my country, enjoy!

New year & new me

The time of the year has come where each individual starts to focus on the things that is important to their lives. For me personally, a new year always represents a new me and a new fresh start to a year. I like to believe that each year is a new chapter and a new chance to become a better person in the hopes of progressing. Happiness to me is one of the most important things in life. I generally believe that in this hectic financial era we live in, people tend to brush away the little things that puts a smile on our faces. Life is taken too seriously and we forget about what truly makes us happy.
Society has the magnetic force of making us conform to what society portrays as "normal' i.e, having a 9-5 full time job and taking breaks here and there. Not to be misunderstood, this might make an individual feel happy because they feel a sense of security from the money that is given to them, but I have read articles and even in our own school books where in Japan it is frankly quiet normal to see employees commit suicide from the stress they endure. Sadly, not many people can grasp the fact that there is actually more to life than work. Tranquility does exist and maybe just maybe one day society can take this fact into account and place it somewhere in between the lines.
